The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is always a highly anticipated cover, with the event even getting it’s own televised announcement each year. Last night it was yet another star studded affair, as 21 models attended to take part in the TNT special, including Gigi Hadid, Chanel Iman, Emily DiDonato and last year’s cover-star, Hannah Davis.
But when it came to the 2016 cover, SI decided to make history by crowning not one, but THREE women as the cover models, all receiving their own separate covers. Those gorgeous women include UFC fighter, Ronda Rousey, and models Ashley “curvy sexalicious” Graham and Hailey Clauson.
Graham was the only cover-rookie this year (and Sports Illustrated’s second ever plus size cover-star), with Rousey actually landing a cover in the past. Though, this time around, Rousey was wearing nothing but body paint. The UFC’s painted-on swimsuit was also a big win for Aussie brand, Camilla, whose design they have meticulously brushed on to her body. Behold:
When the announcement was made, obviously ALL chill was lost, obvs.
"I don't even know why I was up here! I thought I was in the wrong spot!" Ronda said once she finally realised what was going on. She continued, "The best part about it is three different types of women representing every different type of woman out there!” Couldn’t agree more, Rhonda.
Huge congrats to all three women, and a massive pat on the back to Sports Illustrated for making this spot-on decision.
