If Chrissy Teigen’s Instagram is anything to go by, it’s fair to say she loves her food. She’s also proved she’s pretty handy in the kitchen with a cookbook on the way.
Delish caught up with Chrissy over the weekend to talk food, and she revealed her hangover cure, Doritos cheat, and her condiment hoarding situation. Given that mega hot bod of hers, we kind of expected carrot sticks and lettuce (shame on us), but TBH, we could totally eat like her forever. Here's her day on a plate.
Chrissy hates eating pancakes or anything sweet for breakfast for that matter.
"I get really mad when I hear there's a continental breakfast somewhere. I'm not a big breakfast pastry, chocolate croissant girl. I have to have eggs every day. I like a farmer's breakfast: two over-easy eggs, turkey bacon or pork sausage, sliced avocado, and grilled tomatoes. I can't do pancakes or else I just want to go to bed. Eggs are my must—with a ton of Cholula on top."
On that note, she’s got a serious condiment addiction.
"I'm obsessed with Cholula. I bring packets on the airplane. People get jealous and ask the flight attendant for some and they say I brought them myself. I have them upstairs in my hotel room right now!"
Along with Cholula, she also told Delish she eats ranch dressing on everything and keeps pickles in the fridge at all times to add to certain dishes because she loves their ~intense spice~.
She’d take John’s fried chicken over sex any day, it’s just that good, and can’t get enough of spicy chips.
"Tim's Cascade Jalapeño Potato Chips are my favorite. I do a tuna casserole where I crumble and toss them with shredded cheddar and that's the topping. Amazzzing."
She reckons when she’s chowing down carbs though, her face gives it away.
"Carbs make me go 'pow'. You can literally look at a photo and know if I ate carbs. My face isn't the most forgiving of them."
She goes BIG at dinner, otherwise she craves junk food at midnight, and always skips dessert (she even excludes them in her cookbook).
"It's funny, I start every day attempting to be healthy, but then dinner is when I always mess up. By then I'm feeling deprived, so when I finally get home around 11 o'clock I end up eating a heavy dinner. I don't like food on the go and I don't do snacks—I need meal meals. I end up waiting until the time I'm sitting at home in front of the TV. It's always pretty hearty—I love a big rib-eye."
We thought licking the icing off cupcakes before eating them was a bit weird, but Chrissy's Doritos hack is NEXT level.
"I lick off the nacho cheese seasoning and put the chips back in the bag. You still get all the flavor, not all the carbs!"
And surprisingly, despite her love for chippies or the occasional Taco Bell and McDonald’s, her hangover cure is home-cooked.
"Best hangover cure: my mom's rice porridge. It's a thick rice porridge with a ton of ginger and garlic that makes everything go away. You can make these little pork meatballs that you drop into it."
