Hayden Panettiere says her postpartum depression made her a better mum

Women are so resilient, and that’s the incredible thing about them.

Last May, Nashville star Hayden Panettiere checked into a treatment facility after realising she was battling postpartum depression following the birth of her first daughter Kaya in December 2014.

Hayden has been an inspiration for new mothers everywhere and regularly opens up about her struggle.

During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, the 27-year old had some truly important things to say about her PPD.

"It takes you a while and you feel off," Hayden shared. "You don’t feel like yourself."

"Women are so resilient, and that’s the incredible thing about them," she added.

"I think I’m all the stronger for it. I think I’m a better mom because of it because you never take that connection for granted," she continued.

Hayden's character Juliette Barnes in Nashville also struggled with postpartum depression, and as the actress explains, this too helped her deal with her own issues.

"I’m so glad to be back playing Juliette. Everything she’s been through has been like a hazard sign in the road. She made me stronger," she said. "I feel like she’s a phoenix. She crashes and burns and then she rises from the ashes and she always takes the lesson and becomes stronger for it."

"I think it helped me identify what was going on. And to let women know that it’s okay to ask for help and it’s okay to have a moment of weakness. It doesn’t make you a bad person, doesn’t make you a bad mother. It makes you a very strong, resilient woman. You’ve just got to let it make you stronger," she added.

So well put <3.
