Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway reunite to play twisted ex-lovers in new thriller

It's called 'Serenity' but it seems anything but...

Some movie names are just the total opposite of what they actually seem to be about, think Goodfellas or Taxi Driver, and now, Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey's terrifying new thriller, Serenity seems to be in that category.

Since they last starred together in 2014's Interstellar both actors have been pretty busy; Anne has had a baby and has managed to also break new ground in all-female heist movie, Oceans 8, while Matt has continued to maintain his general sexiness while making several picture. So, considering that, we're glad the two Oscar-winners found time to make this new movie where they play mysterious ex lovers with a deadly agenda (let's be real: binge watching things about murder is our fave thing to do these days 'cause we're sickos).

From what we can gather out of the twisted trailer for this Steven Knight-directed film (of Peaky Blinders fame), Anne, who looks cute as a peroxide blonde, tracks down her ex, who is played by Matthew and "not called John anymore", to ask him to kill her seemingly abusive husband, played by Aussie actor, Jason Clarke.

The 2-minute-ish teaser is a little chop-and-change, and it's hard to know exactly what's going on (other that the fact that everyone looks sweaty as hell, and whilst we freeze through winter rn we're jelly AF) but, it's mighty intriguing.

Matthew channels that deep-thinking, existential pondering he seems to bring to so many roles, Anne is nailing the seductive black widow-type, and the movie also stars Djimon Hounsou (of Blood Diamond notoriety) who frankly, rarely stars in anything shit.

First there was the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's A Star is Born trailer, and then this; it's a goddamn week for trailers we tell you!
