It may be a fair while until we are graced with the presence of Game of Thrones again, but that doesn't mean that we're not going to cling to every molecule of information released about the final season. So, when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (AKA gold-handed incestuous Jaime Lannister) spoke out about season eight, we were all ears.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Nikolaj offered an insight or two into the life of Jaime and what's ahead for him after we waved goodbye to him in season seven as he hit the road heading north. First question: Does he even bloody make it up north?!
"I don't think you can assume that he's going to make it up there, but who knows. For sure, we see him head north. He might be eaten by dragons, you never know. Or he might just stumble, things happen. Or he might find the love of his life and suddenly he's like, 'God, this is it. No more.'"
But what about Brienne of Tarth, we hear you scream?! She is Jaime's one true love, so what the heck is happening with her?!
Nikolaj has an answer for that too — and when we say answer, we mean vague bumblings — saying, "Ohhh," "who knows?" and "I don't, well," before stating the obvious: he knows how it all ends but obviously he can't say anything about it.
He did, however, describe what it felt like when all was said and done with filming for the final season. "To me, it was very satisfying but also very surprising and all the things that I was hoping for," he said. "It still made sense."
In fact, he was surprised that Jaime even made it to this season, given all of his very close calls throughout his time in Westeros. "God, every time we got a new script I thought, 'OK, this is probably going to be the one.' But no. The Lannister kids made it to the end."
Hold up, the "Lannister kids made it to the end"?! EVEN CERSEI?! We have been hoping and praying that she reaches a sticky end since day dot, and she makes it to the bloody end?!
Even though Nikolaj was pretty damn vague about details, we're pretty sure our heartrate is spiking right now because WE CAN'T WAIT for the final season of Game of Thrones.
