Genderless Nipples is the new Instagram account trying to trick Insta's no-nipples policy

The nipple is free here.

Women have been trying to #FreeTheNipple ever since Instagram decided nipples were banned from the social media platform. OK, they didn’t use the word ‘banned’, but they might as well have – all offending nipples get either blocked or removed once they’ve been brought to Instagram’s attention.

This is what Instagram’s Community Guidelines have to say about nipples, even though users have been instructed to “post photos and videos that are appropriate for a diverse audience”:

“We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.”

Everyone has always zoned in on the fact that female nipples are too offensive for Instagram.

But a fab new Instagram account – it’s only about a week old, so it really is a baby account – has decided it’s going to challenge the rules by posting close-up photos of nipples that have been so zoomed-in no one can tell whether they’re male, female or other.

Introducing: @genderless_nipples.

It’s basically pictures of nipples and nipples only, but the nipples are pretty sassy in the comments. Like this nipple:

“Dear Instagram, why don't you try and figure out which nipples you can and cannot delete? Good luck!” LOL.

And this nipple:

“No one is free when others are oppressed.” You said it, nipple!

The account has gained over 10,000 followers, and in a short amount of time has already caught Instagram’s attention when a male nipple was deleted.

And BTW, if you’d like your nipple to be featured on the account, it can be! They are open to submissions, and have shared a handy guide for how to best photograph your nipple.

#FreeTheNipple all right.
