Why you need to be careful when looking at Instagram 'Stories'

Especially if you’re into a cheeky stalk.

Whether you like to admit it or not, there are few things more satisfying than a good ol' internet stalk. And pro-stalkers know better than anyone that Instagram and Facebook are the platforms of choice for doing the deed as they don't notify your suspect when you've been trawling their pics and videos from way-back (unless you accidentally 'like' a post, in which case you only have yourself to blame).

But it seems Instagram have taken (yet another) page out of Snapchat's book with their new 'Stories' feature, and it significantly changes the social snooping sitch.

Unlike regular pics or vids posted on Instagram, which you can view a gazillion times on the sly, Instagram 'Stories' allows users to see who's viewed their video, reports Refinery 29. So if you've been viewing your ex's new bae's stories, thinking you're safe, you might wanna stop like RN.

To do this, all the user has to do is go to their own Story and swipe up to see the number of 'views' their story has received, as well as the specific viewers. Eep!

As though that isn't bad enough, Instagram also grants the user the ability to go and reverse-stalk your profile, even if they don't follow you and view your stories. But all is not lost as you're also notified when they view your Story, 'cause fair's fair.

So go forth and stalk, but be careful comrades.
