Is it just us or is this year’s series of Married at First Sight sounding more like Bachelor in Paradise?
Think about it: they more than doubled the amount of couples getting married, had them all hang out together for their ‘last hurrah’ at pseudo bachelor and bachelorette parties, and apparently there will be a bunch of cheating ~scandals~ coming up in the next few weeks, as brides and grooms who weren’t paired with each other hook up.
According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, Gold Coast hairdresser Cheryl finds out that her ‘husband’ Jonathan, the entrepreneur, gives his number to Scarlett, the aspiring author who got married to Michael, the ‘pickiest man in Australia’ (and stripper).
And if that’s not enough, Cheryl apparently gets her revenge on Jonathan by hooking up with Andrew, the firefighter whose bride, Lauren, ran away.
Can you keep up? ’Cos if you can’t we certainly don’t blame you.
A spokeswoman from Channel Nine confirmed the reports, saying, “Yes, there is a cheating scandal and it will come to light on Sunday night.”
It feels like this year’s Married at First Sight has really ramped up the drama. At Cheryl and Jonathan’s wedding, one of the first to air, we were introduced to Emma, a guest who seemed besotted with Jonathan and turned out to be the twin sister of one of his exes.
In another episode, Lauren went MIA after what seemed to be a great reception with Andrew.
And then last night, the weddings wrapped up with a double whammy: twins Michelle and Sharon were paired with Jesse and Nick respectively, and one twin, Michelle, just wasn’t feeling it with her new hubby Jesse. It did not help that he was shorter than her and she felt no ~spark~, but then he gave her a charm necklace and everything seemed to be OK.
This is not the Married at First Sight we’re used to, but we are still hooked.
Who’s ready for the honeymoons?
