So which of the ‘Married At First Sight’ couples are ~actually~ still together?

This show does not have a great success rate...

We are finally out the other side of the all-consuming, life-sucking show Married At First Sight after the season finale aired last week. We were left at the final vow renewal with three semi-sturdy couples declaring their love for each other and their willingness to work things out and crack on together after the experiment.

Those brides and grooms included Sarah and Telv, Charlene and Pat and John and Melissa. Three couples that were strong from the start and seemed ~well matched~. However, who's actually still together after filming wrapped and the show aired to the nation?

Here, we track the progress of these reality TV spouses — and the few rogue cast mates who hooked up after the show — to see who's loved-up and who's shoved their on-screen marriage to where the sun don't shine.

John and Melissa:

John came back to the land of MAFS for round two of looking for love, this time being 'matched' with the oh-so lovely Melissa. She recognised him straight away as she walked down the aisle and the two instantly hit it off, merging their families and laughing non-stop. The two trotted through the experiment together with barely any bumps in the road and decided at the final commitment ceremony that they would renew their vows and stay as a married couple.

However, John and Melissa both took to Instagram this morning to reveal that they have officially split. The couple was a certified crowd favourite for being somewhat ~normal~ and sailing through the experiment with ease — or so we thought?! The couple shared the same picture of each other but with different statements in their captions to declare that they have officially broken up, and now the whole of Australia is probably in floods of tears.

Here is John's heartbreaking statement:

And Melissa shared a slightly longer and more emotional post about the breakup, not forgetting to thank both John and Married At First Sight for "opening my world to love again." Here's her full statement:

What are the bets that John comes back for a third season of and gets Married At First Sight once again?!

Sarah and Telv:

These two were one of the strongest couples from the start, boasting about their connection and even making an announcement at one of the dinner parties that they had ~sealed the deal~. They got on well with each other's families and seemed really into each other, but towards the end of the experiment they hit a few bumps in the road. Sarah wanted Telv to move to Melbourne ASAP after the experiment so they could continue living together as a married couple, but Telv wanted to wait a lil bit to get his affairs in order. This went down like a lead balloon.

Outside of the MAFS bubble, videos were leaked of Telv snorting a suspicious substance off a stripper's bottom and emails from Telv made their way to the press that featured him complaining about how crazy Sarah was and how he wanted out. AKA drama in wedded paradise.

The public were pretty much in the know that the pair were faking their relationship by the end for the exposure, with rumours in the mix that Sarah was working on a makeup line, and therefore wanted to keep up the illusion of the marriage until after the launch.

However, Sarah took to Instagram to announce her split from Telv, saying:

"On the back of what has been such an extraordinary experience it is with great heartache, regret & sadness that Telv & I are no longer together. As you undoubtedly saw, my heart was completely committed to this before I even met my husband & it was absolutely set on fire once I did meet him.

"Like all relationships, no one but the couple involved know exactly what goes on behind the smiles & the tears, so respecting the dignity of both Telv & myself I am wanting to be completely transparent with you; the dedicated, much loved & appreciated viewer. Being surrounded by friends & family is providing a safe haven for me now. This is so I can heal & continue to carry on living a upstanding & happy life.

"An experiment like this forces you to reveal exactly who you are. For me; I'm so proud of my resilience, decency, compassion & my loyalty. I know that nobody is perfect yet I am at that stage in my life where the foundation of basic respect & support from my partner is crucial. As a woman I know what I truly deserve & I just can't allow my innate standards to be compromised.

"There were so many heartfelt moments that we shared together which I honestly will treasure forever. I truly wish only the absolute best for Telv because I undoubtedly will always love & care very deeply for him, but ultimately I deserve someone who shares the same life goals & aspirations as I do."

"Whilst I didn't find lasting love it has surprised me that I did in fact find something much more important; my inner strength. This honestly was the most challenging & intensely emotional undertaking that I've ever committed to. I've 'walked through fire' more times than I ever imagined I would. While it saddens me that it didn't work out, I do know the right man for me is out there somewhere looking for me too. I still believe in my happily ever after & that I'm deserving of a pure & committed love.

"I will always be eternally grateful that our paths crossed in this way as I feel that I have learnt so much about myself & grown exponentially as a person. I'm honoured to have been a part of this incredible life changing journey & I'm thrilled to embrace the next exciting chapter in my life..."

While Telv hasn't come out to speak publicly about the breakup, he did post a telling caption a few days before Sarah's announcement to mark the end of his MAFS journey — where he seemed to have more love for his producer than his on-screen wife…

"Well what an incredible journey that was, thanks to our amazing producer Jade for keeping me sane when the wheels started to come off. Thanks to @sarahjaneroza for being apart of this journey. And too all the legends I've met along the way thank you guys for sharing this unique experience. And too all the messages of support through out this whole experience, thank you all so much. You have no idea how much it helps."

Charlene and Pat:

Charlene and Patrick were the most chilled couple on this season of Married At First Sight, until they got wrapped up in some Dean-shaped drama after the dirty laundry from the Boys' Night was aired at one of the dinner parties. Bar that drama, Charlene and Pat seemed super good together — always laughing and acting like a team — until a little 'Man Up' wedge drove between them. Charlene wanted a 'real man' who was strong in his feelings and decision making, and Pat was consistently scared about his choices and remained emotional throughout the experience.

While neither of these stances are 'wrong', it clearly proved too much of a divide for the couple as they revealed in the final episode that they hadn't really spoken since the final vow renewal. Their awkward relationship status was then confirmed when Charlene took to Instagram to say:

…Because nothing says 'this shit is over' like, "Love awaits…"

Pat also confirmed that the two were O.V.E.R. in an Instagram post where he said: "Charlene - my heartfelt wishes for you on your journey for love as we embark on our lives post MAFS ... as also the journey for love will also continue in mine.. I wish nothing but the best for you and your future. One thing I do know is you will always have my back!"

Carly and Troy:

The unexpected couple to arise from a double Married At First Sight breakup was Carly and Troy — who were previously paired with Justin and Ashley respectively. They returned for the reunion episode and were met with a shittonne of shock from the other contestants (and their ex-husband and ex-wife).

Carly and Troy claimed that they connected after they broke up with their respective partners on the show, and announced by the reunion episode that they were 100 per cent in love and that Troy was relocating to Melbourne to live with Carly. STEADY ON GUYS.

Despite an enormous amount of squelchy PDAs at the dinner party, and quite a bit of judgement from the other contestants, this unexpected pair seems to be going alright!

Plus they seem to be sticking to their word about moving in together, as the pair were papped loading up a car in Sydney with all of Troy's things to drive it down to Carly's house in Melbourne.

On top of that, Troy posts a mushy Instagram picture with Carly every three and a half seconds, so we're pretty sure these two are still together RN.

Tracey and Sean:

Another shock couple arrived at the reunion episode in the form of Tracey and Sean (AKA Dean's ex-wife and the Ellen DeGeneres lookalike). The two admitted that they hooked up two weeks after Tracey dumped Dean's sorry ass at the final vow renewal, and the couple say that they definitely in love — with Sean already meeting Tracey's daughter.

The two remain loved-up on Instagram, despite a mini hiccup from Dean who claimed that Tracey sent him raunchy texts whilst she was with Sean.

There are now rumours that Tracey and Sean are going to have a spin-off TV show, but we won't believe that til the promos start popping up…
