The most expensive 'Game of Thrones' death scene is not the one you think

Trust us.

Game of Thrones.

One of the coolest things about Game of Thrones (other than the representation of bad-ass ladies, sweet fight scenes and, you know, dragons) is that they are not afraid to go H.A.M on a death scene. And, if you've ever watched one single episode of Thrones, you'll know that there are a lot.

But have you ever wondered which is the most expensive to film?

Before you guess, we know which ones you might think it is... we know that head-smashing scene comes to mind, as does Joffrey's and several of Khal Drogo's (RIP), but it's actually none of the above.

Showrunner David Benioff revealed on a recent SXSW panel that it was that gruesome scene where Arya kills Ser Meryn Trant, according to Uproxx.

The scene shows the pedophile Kingsguard member about to abuse two young girls, when Arya reveals she was pretending to be one of the girls using her faceless magic. She tears off her face and then stabs Meryn in the eyes and throat. Yikes.

Apparently the scene was so expensive because "she couldn’t really poke out his eyes" (obvs). We have to assume body doubles, fake eyes and several takes were involved to hike up the production costs.

Season seven of Game of Thrones is returning in July.
