'Pitch Perfect 3's' costume designer has responded to those controversial #sleevegate photos

'To me it is about dressing women however they look and feel great, whatever size they are.'

Rebel Wilson.

Yesterday the internet had a very interesting discussion about a set of photos that emerged from the set of Pitch Perfect 3. Many of the cast members had posted behind-the-scenes photos showing them in matching nautical sailor costumes, consisting of a red-and-white striped top, navy pants and a white hat.

But fans were quick to point out that not all the costumes were the same. Whilst most of the Bellas were wearing their top in a halter-neck design, Rebel Wilson and Ester Dean — the two plus-sized members of the cast — were wearing a version of the top with sleeves. Fans then speculated that Rebel and Ester might have been given more 'covered' costumes in an act of size discrimination.

"Your top should be the same. We all know you are the most delicious chick there," wrote one fan.

However, we think we can lay those rumours to rest. Salvador Perez, Pitch Perfect 3's costume designer, has addressed the controversy on Twitter, revealing that Rebel, Ester and Hana Mae (whose costume was covered by a coat in the images) all requested the cap-sleeved version.

Well, there you have it, folks.
