Brendan Robinson, the actor who plays Pretty Little Liars' Lucas, revealed hints about A.D.'s real identity to [Entertainment Tonight](http://www.etonline.com/tv/218828_exclusive_pretty_little_liars_star_reveals_there_a_very_specific_ad_clue_you_probably_missed/|target=”_blank”|rel=”nofollow”) and they're maddeningly vague. He says the show's writers have been dropping clues about A.D. for a long time but the villain isn't who you might expect.
See if you can read between the lines and figure out who he's talking about:
"I won't tell you what specific clues there are but there are hints that have been dropped for a long time," he teased, adding that he was "thrown off" when he learned who A.D. was.
"When I found out who it was, I hadn't read the script yet, because it was a couple weeks in advance and it didn't make total sense to me at first," he said. "And then, when I saw the script and I read it and we all sat down — and the people that are involved in those scenes do a really, really phenomenal job — all the questions are answered and it made sense."
It sounds like the last episode, which airs at the end of this month, uses flashbacks to connect the dots between the big reveal about A.D. and the clues that have been dropped along the way.
"Yes, there are a lot of flashbacks in the finale," Brendan continued. "You will see those things, and several of the things are not spoken but you actually see it as [a way to remember]."
And finally, when asked if Lucas is A.D. or involved with the villain, he played coy. "It's possible," he said. "I'll say this, if he is involved, I think it's for a good reason ... He is trying to protect Hanna for a good reason."
