ALERT: Sabrina Spellman is coming to Riverdale

We’re currently in an age that we like to call TV-pocalypse where all of our fave shows are coming to an end like PLL, Teen Wolf and The Vampire Diaries. But just when we thought that all hope was lost, Riverdale came along and gave our lives meaning again (hellooooo, how freaking hot is KJ Apa!?).

And we’ve got exciting news for all you Riverdale fanatics, your new sick obsession is about to get a whole lot sicker as it has just been announced that one of the most beloved witches of all time is set to visit Riverdale.

This chick:

Sabrina Spellman from the ‘90s/’00s TV series, Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Wondering how the feck this light-hearted, bubbly teen witch will fit into the darkness that is Riverdale? Well, the Sabrina that you remember is no more; the new incarnation will be a straight-out freaking badass.

Fun fact: the character from the old school TV series is based on a character with the same name from the Archie comics who has a much darker storyline without kooky aunts and a sarcastic, talking cat.

“Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family,” producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told EW. “There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale."

While Riverdale may not be a ~MaGiCaL~ show as such, Aguirre-Sacasa has plans to weave a bit of mysticism into the show.

"There are other characters, like Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, which is an Archie character. We definitely want to do something with Sabrina," he says.

"We talked about Sabrina being something that’s a bit darker and a bit more like Rosemary’s Baby and things like that. So it’s not going to be the half-hour sitcom with Melissa Joan Hart."

Speak of the devil (no pun intended), we’re thinking ol’ Mel dogs must be pretty devs to hear about this as last year she went on record saying that a Sabrina reboot ~may~ be in the works with the OG actress heavily involved, but it looks like The CW has no such plans.

We recommend you hit up your local comic book store on the ASAP and school yourself on the original butt-kicking incarnation of Sabrina Spellman to prepare yourself for her visit to Riverdale.
