She’s quirky, clumsy, completely adorable and more than a bit talented. It’s easy to see why people think Jennifer Lawrence is the bee’s knees. But Kitty, a 30-year-old Texan woman, thinks she’s so great that she got $25,000 worth of plastic surgery to look like her.
Kitty thought she and J-Law already looked pretty similar (really?) but after the birth of her daughter (who is now five) she was no longer comfortable with her body. Her logical solution? Get breast augmentation, liposuction to areas of her face and body, rhinoplasty, and fat grafts to plump her cheeks and bum, thus rendering her even more like Jen.
We’ve heard of people taking pictures of Angeline Jolie’s lips, Megan Fox’s eyes or Keira Knightley’s jawline into the surgeon for inspo, but this is seriously extreme. Perhaps Kitty’s husband is a HUGE Jennifer Lawrence fan??
“Jennifer Lawrence isn't a celebrity that I have particularly strong feelings about one way or another," he said.
"It's totally her choice." #awkward
So as not to sound like a totally selfish parent, Kitty told the ABC News crew that filmed her transformation (she got a discount on the operation for sharing the story on TV) that she’d saved the money from her last job – “it was sort of a ‘me fund’” – and she had plenty of time to save for her daughter’s college fund in the future. Possibly through celebrity look-a-like appearances…
Kitty's transformation follows on from last October’s story of the 33-year-old man who spent $100,000 over five years to look like Justin Bieber. Not content with just getting a sweeping bowl cut, LA-based songwriter Toby Sheldon reckons it’s all in the smile, “its Justin’s smile that gives him his youthful look. So I had my upper lip lifted [and] my bottom lip plumped out”.
Similarly, in September, 2013, Lindsay Lohan’s half-sister made headlines after spending $25,000 on plastic surgery to look more like… Lindsay. Yep, even sharing a gene pool isn’t enough for some.
Ashley Horn shares the same father as LiLo, after he had an affair with her mother while still married to Lindsay’s mum Dina. Keen to break into Hollywood herself, Ashley had rhinoplasty, work on her cheeks and jawline, and fat injected into her chin and upper cheeks to look like Lindsay in her prime.
“I'm hotter than Lindsay!” she told InTouch magazine. “I have no problem saying that.” We’re not sure Lindsay will be scheduling any half-sister bonding time after comments like that...
We spoke to psychologist Meredith Fuller about the alarming trend. She told Cosmo, “Low self-esteem often propels us to emulate our concept of beauty, invariably celebrity.”
The desire to look like a celebrity isn’t just the heavy focus on pop culture we’re surrounded by, but inner psychological issues too, “We assume that if we look like the feted celebrities then as well as their beauty, all of their associated qualities will magically be bestowed upon us.”
NEWSFLASH: they won't.
