Now it's real: Jenna Dewan drops Channing Tatum's surname from her social media handles

The move comes more than two weeks after the couple announced their split.

Jenna Dewan has removed husband Channing Tatum's last name from her social media handles following the announcement of their split in early April.

The Step Up actress had always used @jennadewan on Twitter and Instagram, but her name read "Jenna Dewan Tatum" up until Thursday, April 19. Now it reads, "Jenna Dewan" -- no more Tatum 😭.

The carefully crafted social media move comes more than two weeks after Channing and Jenna told fans they would be splitting up after nearly nine years of marriage.

Last year the actress told Live With Kelly and Ryan that changing her surname was more Chan's idea anyway.

"Channing is very traditional," the 37-year-old said. "I'm kind of not. My family was very liberal and that wasn't a thing, but to him it was very important."

In the end she compromised with a double-barrel.

"He's still kind of miffed that I didn't just take Tatum," she shared. "For some reason, it was really hard for me to let go of my given name."

The couple met on the 2006 set of the movie Step Up, and they got married in 2009. They have one daughter, Everly, who turns five in May. In a joint statement released online, they said there are no hard feelings between the two of them.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," they said. "There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible."

Before we say RIP to love forever, let's just enjoy these pics of Channing and Jenna, one of our fave noughties couples, in happier times together...
