Love

So apparently just OWNING a pet makes you significantly more attractive

Like we needed another reason to get a pupper…

dogs make you hotter

Is your love life lacking? It might be time to get a pet — in case you needed any more persuasion — as a new survey has revealed that 63 per cent of single Aussies think having a pet makes you HELLA attractive. And you know what that means? More matches and more chances of finding a fellow doggo parent to raise your furry family with.

And TBH we couldn’t agree more with this stat. Seeing someone with a pupper instantly makes them more fun and attractive. Firstly, because you get to significantly increase the amount of floofer time in your life, and secondly, because someone who owns a dog must, at least to some degree, have their shit together.

In fact, 79 per cent of peeps surveyed by EliteSingles said that they prefer pet owners because their attitude towards their animals is a good indicator of whether or not they’d be good in a relationship. Not saying that we want to be treated like a dog, but pats, snacks and naps go a looooong way in our book!

…But if you’re not a dog person, that’s okay — 12 per cent of single pringles are attracted to cat owners too! Which is something, but it pales in comparison to 63 per cent of singles that have the hots for dog owners. Soz cat ladies.

Don’t have a pet? You can fool the world and just chuck a selfie with your mate’s dog into the mix. It’ll still help you as 71 per cent of singles wanna see pets in people’s dating profile pics. Obviously, you may need to prepare your match for disappointment when they ultimately find out that you’re pupper-less, but a good buffer for that is organising doggie dates with your mate’s dog regardless. Firstly, so you don’t look like a major bullshitter, and secondly because puppy play dates are cute AF.

So there you have it, your ultimate excuse to finally get a dog. Just be warned though, getting a dog because you’re single and want to meet someone is a valid thought, but it will all go down the toilet if you then become obsessed with said dog and shut down all dating apps to commit 100 per cent to your pupper. It’s all about balance, remember?
