Shout out to Tinder for launching a Transgender-inclusive update in time for Mardi Gras

You can now list your gender as male, female or any other term that you identify with.

Did you know that over 3 MILLION people subscribe to Tinder globally? That's a lot of people. And in 2018, many of those three million people identify as male and female. However, there's a good portion of the population who don't identify with these more traditional gender identities.

As of today, Tinder is introducing a new feature that allows users more options when selecting their gender. Until now, Tinder users have been limited to two options: man or woman. But going forward, there will be an 'edit information' option that allows users to add a term that describes what they identify with.

This means there are no limitations when it comes to choosing your gender. Do you identify as transgender? Fab! Are you gender fluid? Also fab! Intersex? Great — add it to the list!

Tinder worked closely with Transgender Victoria on this update. "[We are] excited to be collaborating with Tinder in this area," Sally Goldner, media spokesperson for Transgender Victoria, said in a statement. "Trans and gender diverse people desire connection as much as the broader population and increasing the inclusivity of Tinder in relation to gender will help achieve that connection."

"It also helps trans and gender diverse people across cultures be and be seen positively as who we are, both individually and collectively, which is vital for our health and well-being, including self-esteem," Goldner continued.

This update has been rolled out just in time for Mardi Gras. We couldn't think of a better time to celebrate all genders, all sexualities, and just everyone in generally, really. Especially Cher. We couldn't think of a better time to celebrate Cher.
