Melania Trump has broken her silence over a video from 2005 leaked by the Washington Post of Donald Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women.
In the video, Trump is heard telling Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, "You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait."
"And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything," he says, in audio captured via hot mic. "Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."
Melania was pregnant with their son Barron Trump when Trump made the comments.
The disturbing remarks have caused widespread outrage, including among Republican politicians, many of whom have withdrawn support for Trump and are calling for him to drop out.
However, Trump on Saturday said that he will "never withdraw" and, in several interviews and tweets, seemed unfazed by the controversy. He also told the Wall Street Journal that he has the support of his daughter, Ivanka, and Melania.
"I was with Ivanka yesterday; I’m with Melania now," he said. "They fully understand, and they’re very loyal."
"The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me," Melania’s statement read. "This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world."
