Why it’s really not okay to joke about the revenge porn Rob Kardashian posted of Blac Chyna

Rob sought to humiliate Chyna, to degrade her, to ‘slut-shame’ her, yet people are still grabbing the popcorn? Wait a minute here…

Why it’s not okay to joke about Rob Kardashian's revenge porn

Let me start by freely admitting I’ve got a complicated relationship with Blac Chyna. (She doesn’t know this, of course, but in my head, we got some beef.)

She arrived onto my newsfeed like an unwanted fame-hungry force of nature. Mean? Yeah, probably.

But going after your ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s big brother seems like a bit of a silly play, and, to me, it seemed there was always a bit of an ulterior motive there.

It’s been a rollercoaster for Chyna since. Her toxic (and bloody exhausting) on/off relationship with Rob Kardashian was showcased for the world to see as they documented fights with his family, splits, her pregnancy and his weight battles on their reality show, Rob & Chyna .

It seemed like Chyna really did court the publicity that comes with being a Kardashian. (We’ll skim past the fact Mama Kris blocked her from becoming Angela Kardashian ... Burn.)

But overnight, Rob Kardashian has crossed the line of no return. And Blac Chyna has my ultimate sympathy right now.

He posted a series of extreme rants about his ex-fiancée on Instagram, culminating in posting a picture Chyna’s vagina and another nude picture.

There’s a name for this – it’s called revenge porn and it’s illegal where Chyna and Rob reside in California.

But it seemed some folks on the internet tried to make light out of the situation, instead of outright condemning the fact Rob had posted pictures of his ex-partner’s genitals on the internet.

Memes like this started appearing:

And I get it, I do. People think the Kardashians and Blac Chyna are fair game - live by sword and die by the sword and all that. And I LOVE a good Kardashian meme as much as the next gal.

But nope, not this time.

I’m not saying there’s not morbid fascination in watching celebrity trainwrecks but this has just crossed the line of decency and no matter what our thoughts on Blac Chyna, Rob Kardashian or indeed the rest of the Krew, we can't be making light of something so serious.

A daughter, a girlfriend, a MOTHER had her naked body posted without her permission for the world to see.

Oh yeah, because let’s not forget this couple share a beautiful little baby girl called Dream together. Unfathomably, Rob thought it was acceptable to do this to the mother of his child.

Baby Dream.
Baby Dream.

“This is from Chyna yesterday to me," Rob captioned the screengrab of Chyna's vagina.

"I never been so disrespected in my life. I just bought her 250K of jewellery yesterday. This woman is so disrespectful and I don’t care.”

He also shared video of Chyna in bed with another man and wrote, “Hahahaha Chyna just sent me this video saying happy 4th of July what a crazy person. Come spend time with your daughter instead of f**king me and then this dude right after. U need help.”

Actually Rob, we think you do. Cheating is the worst but what you did is actually criminal.

It’s not even the first time Rob’s pulled this sort of stunt.

He publicly lambasted Rita Ora in 2012, claiming on Twitter she'd slept with "20 other dudes" while they were together.

It will be interesting what the Kardashian girls do next. Wouldn't it be empowering to see them outwardly condemning their brother’s behaviour in order to set an example to impressionable young girls the world over, while getting Rob some help at the same time?

The bottom line is, no matter what you think of Blac Chyna and whether or not she cheated on Rob, revenge porn on a woman (or a man!) shouldn’t ever be treated in jest.

Because we have a societal duty to stamp out this horrific form of ‘revenge’ once and for all.
