Some scientists believe masturbation breaks at work would increase office productivity

And to help reduce workplace stress.

When we think of work perks, we imagine a free coffee or sandwich every now and then, maybe a team building exercise playing mini golf? Masturbation breaks certainly wouldn't be the first thing that would spring to mind… but they're apparently a great idea.

British newspaper Metro asked some serious science people whether introducing office policies on workplace masturbation would, well, work or not, and, apparently they would. Mark Sergeant, a senior lecturer in psychology at Nottingham Trent University, said that a masturbation break would be "very effective" in the office, describing it as a "great way to relieve tension and stress."

Psychologist and life coach Dr Cliff Arnall agrees. "I would expect a masturbation policy to result in more focus, less aggression, higher productivity, and more smiling," he told Metro. "Certainly taking a masturbation break for boredom or an escape would increase work focus."

However, Arnall did point out that it's likely to cause frustration if you are unable to climax in your allotted break, and being under pressure to get back to your desk may ruin the experience a bit. (We'd be more bothered about doing it in the communal toilets actually...) He also noted that fantasizing about a colleague should be avoided, but if the masturbation break is used purely as a form of stress relief, then sure, go ahead.
