Rebound sex could actually be good for you

Seems the only way to get over someone IS to get under someone else…

We were always led to believe you should take your time before you, er, get back on the old saddle after a break-up.

But it would seem getting over someone by getting under someone else could be a viable option.

A New York study has shown that despite what some people might have you believe, rebound relationships are actually a great way to get over your ex.

The study found that people who got into a new relationship quickly after a break up felt better about themselves and moved on faster than those who didn't.

Research by the University of Missouri also found that around a third of people have had rebound sex (is that it?!) and 16% have had sex for revenge.

Sexpert Tracey Cox thinks whether rebound sex helps you move on depends on your personality.

Cox writes for Mail Online:

"Some people need time to dissect and analyse before they feel safe enough to trust their body or heart to a new person.

"Other people favour distraction techniques - like throwing themselves into work or on top of someone else.

"If you're a classic 'monkey' in relationships - not letting go of the branch of one relationship until you've got your hand firmly on the next - I wouldn't advise racing back to bed."

Be careful you cheeky monkeys, you.

If you're not up for the whole rebound shenanigans, may we suggest the old classic: ice-cream. And a Ryan Gosling film.
