What can you actually get for $1 these days? We’ll wait…
Exactly. Not much. Maybe a stick of gum or chocolate bar, if it’s on sale.
But from midday today, you can book a domestic flight and get the return trip for just $1.
How? Tigerair has launched its Pay to Go, Come Back for $1 Sale, meaning the budget airline has put some domestic flight routes between late January and late March on sale.
“Gather up your loose change for a return flight from one of Australia’s most beautiful destinations, including Cairns, the Whitsundays or the Gold Coast,” said Joel Dwyer, the spokesman for Tigerair.
The sale will finish at midday, Saturday, August 5, or until they sell out — and with a deal this good, you can bet your bottom dollar (ha!) they will, especially as Tigerair only has 13,000 flights up for grabs.
The cheapest return flights are from Hobart to Melbourne, and the Gold Coast to Sydney, for $60 return, and the most expensive are from Brisbane to Perth, and Perth to Sydney, for $190 return.
Prepare to be patient, as the Tigerair website may be “experiencing technical difficulties” during the sale period, so good luck with even getting through.
And just remember that recent security changes mean you’ll need to be at the airport two hours before your domestic flight.
Happy booking and travels!
