If you've been to a wedding this year or are planning to go to one soon, then you've most likely seen a few of these five fresh ideas that are popping up in ceremonies and receptions all over the place. According to a new Pinterest report, couples are throwing tradition to the wind and going with these fun new trends that are huge this year.

1. Mismatched bridesmaids dresses. Searches for mismatched bridesmaids dresses are up 50 per cent this year — and this trend has been a long time coming. Everyone should be allowed to choose their own unique look on such a special day, not just the bride.

2. Food trucks. More laid-back dining options — including food trucks and carts — are increasingly popular.

3. Honeymoon fund. In a true millennial style, younger couples prefer experiences over items for wedding gifts, causing an uptick in honeymoon funds. Brides are searching this 200 per cent more in 2016.

4. DIY toss bar. Forget rice! Toss bars, which allow guests to customise confetti combinations, are the latest way to wish newlyweds on their way.

5. Circular seating plans. Highly structured seating charts are on the outs. Now, couples prefer circular ceremony seating that allows everyone to sit together and share a great view.
