Keen to relax?

If the city gets a little too much and you want to give yourselves a little time to relax, head for a wellness treatment at the Let's Relax Onsen Spa in Thonglor. Submerge yourself in the pools of varying temperatures and sweat it out in the sauna designed to relax and rejuvanate the body before heading to a couples massage room for a traditional Thai massage.

Want to explore the culture?

Despite being a buzzing Asian metropolis, Bangkok also has a rich history of monarchy and a simplistic local life. No visit to this intriguing city is complete without stopping by The Grand Palace, home to the Thai royal family since 1782. It's beauty spans across 218,400 square metres of grounds filled with ornate temples decorated with marble, tiles and gold. Take time to look at the incredibly detailed murals across many of the building walls that speak to traditional Thai heritage.

After experiencing the rich opulence of the royal grand palace, take a step into the local life of many Thai people heading off on a river boat. You'll fly across the water, winding through the city and then into more modest and simple Thai dwellings of the riverbank dwellers, it's a great way to experience the blend of this city.

Take a Thai cooking class as newlyweds and master making tasty treats for each other. Amrita Cooking School is just a little trip down the river from the main city centre of Bangkok but offers such an authentic experience its worth the trip. Explore the garden with the owner and head chef who has lived on the waterside property with her extended family for years. After being taken through the herb and vegetable garden and learning about the key ingredients for Thai cooking (including a demonstration on how to create your own coconut milk) you'll be taken to your station to learn four fantastic Thai meals. Even the worst cooks will be whipping up delicacies in no time at all! We love the savory coconut pancakes!

After something a little extra?

Forget flying, if you're looking to travel out of Bangkok why not board The Eastern & Oriental Express train to Singapore. You'll see so much of the Thai countryside and travel past the legendary River Kwai as you sip on flamed pineapple cocktails on this luxury sleeper train. You'll feel like you're in the movies (literally, the remake of the Orient Express hits cinemas later this year) as you have dinner in the super luxe-styled dining cart or retire to your suite for the night. Soak up more of the culture with stops along the way in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. You can even hire your own DJ to come aboard!
