Royal Wedding recap: The dress

Can you believe it's over? The Cosmo Bride team reminisces over their favourite moments from William and Kate's big day. Oh, the dress! Did you love it? We're still on a serious royal wedding high and can't stop talking about Will and Kate's magical big day. Of course, the most talked about topic is Kate's dress. Or should we say, dresses?! We were on the edge of our seats, eyes glued to the screen, waiting to see the much-anticipated wedding gown and when Kate stepped out of the car to reveal that stunning Alexander McQueen dress, designed by the label's Sarah Burton, we were floored by the absolute perfection. Love, love, LOVED it! The full ivory and white satin gazar skirt and two-metre train kept it modest and traditional (and pleased the Royals, no doubt), but at the same time, the sweetheart bustline and deep V-neckline added a contemporary, youthful feel. Go Kate! The corseted bodice showed off her feminine silhouette and the antique lace sleeves were achingly elegant and romantic. Sigh. Understandably, Kate couldn't be expected to make it through the reception (and many after-after parties) in such a voluminous number, so she did a quick change into an equally stunning, but more under-stated satin-gazar A-line dress. It was another Sarah Burton design, but was strapless with a sweetheart neckline and embellished with crystals at the waist. A gorgeous angora bolero completed the look, once again keeping it modest, but modern. Within seconds of seeing the first gown, wedding dress designers were busily sketching copy-cat styles and just hours later, the first replicas were complete. Check out the amazing replica the Karen Willis Holmes team whipped up over the weekend. We have a feeling wedding designers the world over will be busy with requests for The Kate for a while yet!
